What is it for?
The app is designed for businesses that want to automate the process of offering specific prices or discounts for different clients.
You might have a simple pricing structure that offers general discounts (10%, 20%...) to different wholesale groups. Or you might have specific product prices depending on the client.
However your pricing structure works, if you want to apply different prices for different customers without having to use countless Shopify discount codes, this app is the way to go.
The Wholesale app is an all-in-one solution that simplifies your business operation by integrating wholesale orders into your daily Shopify orders.
What we like about it
- You can create general discounts (10%, 20%, etc...), but also input specific prices for each product and variant.
- It allows you to create discounts based on the customer's country location, so your customers can see different prices based on their country without you having to duplicate your Shopify store.
- There's a draft order mode that allows it to work without having to duplicate all the variants, so you can still keep syncing all your sales channels like Facebook, or other third parties.
- You can sell memberships (yearly or monthly) that give your customers access to their discounted prices, based on the membership they purchase.
How does the Bold Custom Pricing: Wholesale app work?
Since Shopify is primarily a B2C (business-to-customer) platform, you need to apply a few tricks to make the wholesale shopping experience happen seamlessly.
Below are the things you'll need to incorporate into your store for it to work. We've also included a couple of things to help improve both the customers' and wholesalers' shopping experience.

Wholesale registration form
Wholesale customers will need to register an account with you and unfortunately, because it's not your typical account, you won't be able to use your standard Shopify account registration.
Depending on the complexity of your application form, our team at Medito can either build a custom submission form or use an external service that will be integrated into your store.
This will allow you to separately receive the wholesale registrations from your Shopify store while your standard customers can still register a direct account with your Shopify store. The wholesale submissions will be received at an email address of your choice. You or someone from your team can then assess if they want to approve a distributor to be part of your Shopify clients or not. If you decide to approve this wholesaler, you will need to send them an account invite (see more details in the next section).
Wholesale account invite
Now that you've received and assessed your first wholesale form submissions, you'll need to send those customers a Shopify customer account activation email.
When doing this, the customer will receive an email from Shopify prompting them to create a password to finalise their account so that they can log in and start placing orders.
The difference with the regular customer account is that a tag will need to be assigned for each of those wholesale customers. This specific tag will allow you to design endless possibilities of things specifically for those wholesale customers.
Adding a tag is a very easy process on a Shopify store which can be done following the below steps.
Create a new customer and add the tag "wholesale" to its account.
Save that customer and you can now click on the "send account invite" link.
From the popup, you can edit the subject, personal message and then send it to the specific customer.
Customise the account invite email
The standard Shopify account activation email is fairly simple but can be customised via the code.
With a bit of tweaking, you can include specific messages, images, and links for the wholesalers so that they receive a nice message to kick off their partnership with you. Again, we can help you with this bit!
Specific prices for wholesalers
Now that your distributors can log in via their account, the next thing that you will want is to display specific prices for those wholesalers.
The Wholesale app allows you to create different customer groups based on tags that are assigned to your customers (i.e: wholesale).
We can handle this bit for you. Once you've created a customer group, we'll be able to assign a specific reduced price that will be visible only to those customers and only when they are logged in.
The type of discount you can do is quite extensive, but it also defines the monthly price of the app.
Let's say you simply want to give a general 15% discount on all of your products and to all of your wholesalers, then the recurring cost will be 39.99usd/mo (prices correct Sep 2022).
If you need to have specific price discounts for each one of your products and variants, then you would be charged 59.99usd/mo.
Exclusive wholesale products
Are there specific products that you wish your distributors to see?
We can create a handful of possibilities for you to manage the products that you wish your distributors to have available for purchase. But this also works in the other way! This means you can have products displayed on your Shopify store that only wholesalers will be able to buy but that regular customer can or cannot see.
Exclusive wholesale collection(s)
Another cool thing to have for your distributors (in case some products are exclusive for them) is a specific wholesale collection that is only accessible to them.
This collection can be linked to their account so that they can access it easily and shop your products.
Most of your Shopify store content can also be edited to suit your distributors' needs. For example, you could have a promo banner designed only for wholesalers to inform them of any specific deals or information.
